The Story of the Weed Whacking Golf Driver

The Weed Whacking Golf Driver was an idea born from a pure love of the game and a couple of jokesters! Here’s the story of this Golf Gadget:
The golf course was pretty much deserted on that blistering hot Arizona afternoon in July 2004, when TroyNowell & I we’re on the 13th Hole at Hillcrest Golf Club in Sun City West, Arizona.
The 13th is a par 5 dog-leg left around a lake and Troy knocked his drive about 310 yards straight through the fairway and into the right rough. It was a miracle we found his ball at all – it was buried in 4 inches of thick Bermuda grass. As Troy was shaking his head, I pulled out the standard joke for the situation – “You’ll need a weed eater for that”.
On that day,Troy’s ball had found the rough on the majority of his drives. He was starting to get a little miffed. On impulse I said “Dude, you need a weed eater golf club”.Troy’s sour face suddenly lit up as he considered the idea. The rest of our sweat soaked round of golf was consumed with thoughts of a hilariously funny new golf product – the idea of Weed Whacking Golf Driver was born!

We hired a Patent Attorney and in 2006 the Patent was fully approved by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
